Nathan Green Runs 4:00.97 Mile in BoisePublished by
Borah ID Senior Runs Near 4-Minute Barrier In Heat At 2,700 Feet By Doug Binder, DyeStat Editor Nathan Green of Borah ID has targeted a four-minute mile since his freshman year, and Friday he got close at the YMCA Invitational. Green ran 4:00.97 in 92-degree heat at Boise's 2,700-foot altitude. Green called it "a great effort and a great run," and he closed in 55 seconds. "My pacers went through in a perfect 2:02/2:03. They dropped off at the 800 and I came through the 1,200 in 3:05," he said. Green earlier doubled at the Idaho state meet, pairing 4:07.90 in the 1,600 with 8:53.47 in the 3,200. That's the fastest prep mile ever run in Idaho, but the all-time state record belongs to Michael Slagowski of Rocky Mountain, who ran 3:59.53 in 2016 at the Jesuit Twilight Relays in Portland. Green said he has been invited to the Brooks PR meet in Seattle and is also working on the possibility of running at the NSAF Outdoor Nationals at Hayward Field in Eugene.
